Welcome to the peer-led mentoring program for visual artists

In the 2024 program, close to 100 artists are participating from The Centre for Finnish Media Art, Helsinki Artists' Association, Kettuki, Finnish Painters' Union, Artists’ Association MUU, The Finnish Comics Society and Association of Photographic Artists. For the first time, based on participants' request, this year some of the groups have been formed crossing organizational boundaries.

The mentoring process is based on sharing expertise, knowledge and experiences among collagues in small groups, from artist to artist. We encourage shaping the group's activities to fit into one's own daily life. The groups organize their own activities and decide, among other things, what themes to discuss in their meetings and how often and in what manner to meet. When forming the small groups, we take into account shared preferences, such as meeting times and areas of interest.

Participatino in the peer-led-mentoring program requires commitment to regular small group work as well as attenting to program's joint meetings. Please note that all our activities adhere to the principles of creating a safer space. All program's joint meetings are bilingual (Finnish and English).

On this page, you will find updated information about the schedule, joint meetings and supplementary materials related to the mentoring process. At the bottom of the page, there are contact information of the people in the organizations who will guide you through the various stages of the peer mentoring program and answer any questions you may have.

Backround material for participants

We have compiled a information package for the participants of the peer-led mentoring program. In the Google Drive, you will find ideas for initiating small group work, themes to be discussed in groups, and keeping a mentoring diary, among other things.

We would gladly welcome suggestions for any other type of material you feel would be helpful to support your work

Safer space guidelines

The guidelines for safer space are followed in the activities of the House of Visual Arts. We ask everyone participating in our activities respect our common guidelines and to create a safe and respectful space for everyone.
